📚Web3 Wallets & Security
What is a Web3 wallet
A Web3 wallet is the key to entering the blockchain world and can be used to:
Manage digital assets (such as tokens, NFTs)
Sign on-chain transactions
Connect to decentralized applications (DApps)
Core elements of a wallet
Seed Phrase
The wallet's "master key"; losing or leaking it = loss of assets.
Never enter your seed phrase into any webpage, form, or chat window.
Private Key
Used to sign transactions; do not share.
Once a private key is exposed, all assets in the wallet will be fully controlled by others.
⚠️ SlerfSwap will never ask for your wallet private key or secret phrase.
Address
A public account that can be shared to receive funds.
Please note! The mnemonic and private key are the only credentials to recover your wallet and control your assets. If you share your private key or mnemonic with a third party, they can control and transfer your assets without your permission!
Safety usage guide
Safely store your seed phrase
Record it offline (paper, metal plate); never screenshot or store it in the cloud.
Best practice: handwrite two copies of your seed phrase and keep them in different secure locations.
Beware of phishing sites and fake apps
Only download official versions and verify the URL.
Common phishing methods: fake airdrops, spoofed wallet websites, fake support on Discord/Telegram.
Be cautious when authorizing transactions
Carefully verify contracts and permissions before signing.
Regularly revoke unnecessary approvals.
Device security
Store large amounts in a hardware wallet.
Regularly update your system and wallet.
Beware of social engineering attacks
Official channels will not privately request your seed phrase/private key.
Be suspicious of "airdrop/compensation" links.
What to do if something goes wrong?
If assets are stolen: immediately use tools like Revoke to revoke contract approvals, and quickly transfer remaining funds to a new wallet.
⚠️ Blockchain transactions are irreversible; once funds are stolen they cannot be recovered. If you discover theft, stop further loss and move remaining assets immediately.
Wallet lost/device damaged: restore in a new wallet using the seed phrase; if the seed phrase is lost = assets cannot be recovered.
If scammed or phished: stop signing transactions and disconnect the wallet immediately.
Help channels: trust only the platform's official documentation and support; avoid clicking unknown links.
Summary
Seed phrase = ownership of assets: losing or leaking the seed phrase equals losing all assets.
Security first: never enter seed phrases or private keys on webpages/private chats/forms.
Separation of hot and cold wallets: use a hot wallet for small daily amounts and a cold wallet for large long-term storage.
Stay vigilant: official channels will never privately ask for any keys; always verify the URL and app source before each signature.
